Seeking Experienced Mainframe IMS Engineers for a Long-Term Project – Hybrid in Guadalajara, Jalisco

We are looking for a highly skilled Mainframe IMS Engineer with a minimum of 15 years of experience to join a dynamic team within a leading organization. This role involves installing, upgrading, configuring, and supporting IMS environments to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability in mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product installation, upgrades, maintenance, and customization using usermods

  • Supporting and managing related software products

  • CICS configuration and subsystem connectivity setup

  • Planning, testing, and implementing IMS software upgrades, RSUs, and feature enhancements

  • Managing IMS/TM and IMS/DB subsystems within z/OS Sysplex environments

  • Defining and maintaining IMS databases using DBDs and PSBs and executing DL/I utilities

  • Developing and maintaining IMS applications using COBOL, Assembler, and REXX

  • Installing, configuring, and patching IMS regions using SMP/E or z/OSMF

  • Monitoring and tuning IMS transaction and database performance to meet SLAs

  • Troubleshooting transaction failures, database lock contention, and communication errors

  • Implementing IMS backup and recovery strategies and integrating with DFSMShsm

  • Integrating IMS with CICS, DB2, MQ, and web services

  • Producing technical documentation and coordinating with cross-functional teams

Technical Skills Required:

With over 15 years of experience as a Mainframe IMS Engineer, you must be proficient in the following technical skills:

  • IMS/TM, IMS/DB, IMS Connect, GATEWAY

  • z/OS, SMP/E, JES2, JCL, TSO/ISPF

  • DFSMS, DL/I, DBDGEN, PSBGEN

  • COBOL, HLASM, REXX

  • MQSeries, CICS, DB2, JDBC, Web Services

  • SDSF, IPCS, SLIP, IMS logs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Fluent in English (Advanced)

  • Strong analytical thinking, clear communication, mentoring disposition, and time management

Location & Schedule:

  • Hybrid work in Guadalajara, Jalisco (Tlaquepaque / Zapopan area)

  • Remote option available for candidates based in Mexico City or Querétaro, with availability to travel to Guadalajara on some occasions as required by the project
  • Work hours Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 18:00

  • Candidates must be located in Guadalajara or nearby areas in Jalisco
